A lot of stories are told concerning issues that shape human history. These stories seek to tell us where we’re coming from and sometimes give a clue as to where we are headed. These stories abound – some true, some too good to be true.
Christmas is one of such stories. To some it is a fable, to others it is apocryphal, again to some it is just one of those stories. What then does Christmas mean? At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of the Lord Jesus Christ came into planet earth as a baby, born a virgin called Mary who conceived by the Holy Spirit.
One may ask what then makes Jesus’ birth special.
I. He was born by a virgin who conceived by the Holy Spirit (Luke 1:35, Matthew 1:20,Isaiah 7:14)
II. He came to save the human race from sin and its consequences (Isaiah 9:6 &7, John 3:16-18)
III. He came to destroy the works of the Devil (I John 3:8b;Colossians 2:15)
These are just a few of the things that make Jesus and hence, His birth standout.
The Christmas story is not just one of those stories. It is the story that altered the fate of man positively and indelibly.

What is Life About?
What is life about? Isn’t life supposed to be more than it is now? Am I truly satisfied with the way I’m living? Is this all I can be? At some point in the life of every rational human being these questions start ringing in his /her mind begging for answers. They demand for answers.
Many people believe that money will quiet all these cravings and answer these questions. But it’s all a ruse. How much money can truly and adequately satisfy a man? How much money does a woman need to make her happy? The truth is that the richer an individual becomes, the more money he wants. The truth is simply that “human wants are insatiable”. The more money he makes, the higher he raises the bar of satisfaction and ironically, the more unsatisfied he becomes.
What about those who believe that they will be fulfilled once they find someone to confide in, share fond thoughts and feelings with? Someone who will be there for them during the good times, the bad times and the ugly times. One who’ll stand by them through thick and thin. Rain or shine. Come to think of it, is there any mortal who fits this profile? Experience shows that human beings are limited. No human being has the ability to stand by you at all times. No man can be there for you whenever you need him. Humans are programmed to fail you at one point or the other.
How then can one figure out this maze called life? How can one make meaning out of life? One can only find satisfaction in life by finding and fulfilling purpose. Living life without purpose is like driving a brand new car and heading for no direction in particular. This is suicide.
The first step in discovering your purpose is getting to know the giver of purpose Himself, Jesus Christ. He said: “The thief's purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness.” John 10:10 NLT
Wouldn’t you rather surrender your life to him and start to live a truly meaningful life that really counts for something?
